Olympic Level Changes
After a lot testing at events and athlete feedback we've reduced the run distance and row distance at the Olympic level. Row drops from 3000 meters to 2500. Run is reduced from 8k to 5k. The primary reason for the change is to keep the balance of strength, power, endurance. The endurance phase was comprising over 70% of the total event time and the run by itself was over 50%. The second reason is to stay aligned to our goal to be the healthiest fitness event. Long distance running is not effective or efficient. Numerous studies have proven that the benefits of cardio training plateau quickly and years of long-distance running have many negative effects.
